Altols should work for everyone, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, zoom or high-contrast settings.
Last updated 29 October 2026.
What we aim for
We design and test against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. In practice that means:
- every tool can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline;
- text and controls meet AA colour contrast in both light and dark mode;
- images have text alternatives, and progress and results are announced to screen readers;
- pages work at 200% zoom and on small screens;
- animation is minimal and turned off if you ask your device to reduce motion.
Known limitations
Positioning a photo in the passport tool by dragging is a visual task. You can do the same thing with the zoom and position controls, which work with a keyboard and are labelled for screen readers, and the automatic checks describe the result in words.
